My dad turned 60

Hey, here's another update! My father just turned 60 years old and I made him a caricature. This image has a lot of internal jokes, so I don't expect everyone to understand all that is going on here :) But I hope you like it anyway.

You can see the entire image in the Personal Misc Gallery

PS! I've removed the comment field below my blog post. I mostly just got spam there so I thought it didn't serve a purpose. But instead I've added a like button...So, please click that "like" button if you like something ;)

Moose in Sunset

Now what the heck is this ? :D
Well, if you are from Norway you would know that every Norwegian should make a Moose in Sunset once during their career. Well´so here´s my take on the subject. And, even if this is sort of an cliché for use Norwegians, I bet there´s not many artists that have done this kind of motif as a digital painting ;)

Take a look in high resolution in the Personal Miscellaneous gallery.

The reason why I made this is because I was invited to enter an art competition called Share one Planet. I know I said earlier that I would document the process and progression of my entry. But, after I noticed that I hadn´t read the rules properly, and had to start over, i sort of lost motivation for a while. And, since my last months have been very busy with work I just had to take this between here and there whenever I had time . So I apologize to anyone who was looking for sketches ang progress pictures - I promise I will do this some other time with some other picture ;)

New Environment

Hey, back from GDC 2011 San Francisco. Thought I'd share a new background I recently did for Hyper Interaktiv - made for a Serious Game which I don't know the name of :) Check it out in panorama and higher res in the Environment section!

More stuff is coming soon!

On the side, GDC was a blast and it's amazing what great stuff is coming out these days. But from all the stunning productions I must say that Nintendo's 3DS and the 3D screen which gives you 3D without glasses is what amazed me the most. I can hardly wait to play Zelda in full 3d with this thing. Check it out if you can ;)

Battlestar Art presentation at the Unite 2010

Guh! I hate to announce this...But I´ve been slow this year, so I deserve to make a bit of an embarassment of myself.
Anyway, I was having a presentation at the Unity Unite 2010 in Montreal late last year. The presentation was about the Art Direction of Battlestar Galactica and some of the choices we made. The presentation is about 45 mins long and I talk half of the time. Voja my colleague and out lead animator talks the rest.

If you care to have a look, go here to watch it.

But I need to point out that I´ve never done this before, in english that is, and I´m by far a trained speaker. So when I´m watching it now I see I could have appeared a bit more enthusiastic. Oh well, one has to evolve by actual experience ;)

Two concepts for a commercial

Hi again! Yet another update this week. This time a couple of concepts made for a commercial made by Øyedrops. Bjørklund is a chainstore in Norway which sells jewelry. You can see the final video on their website. A small but fun task - and I think Øyedrops did a great job converting these concepts into a 3d world. The intention was to make something sort of like Alice in wonderland, but more "glamourized" as it´s for a jewelry vendor. You can find the other concept in the Concept Art section.

More illustrations

I´m back from Canada and my talk at Unity´s Unite. A fun but challenging experience for someone like me that hasn´t got too much experience in talking to large crowds (especially in English) But, I think it went rather nice and as they say, what doesn´t kill ya only makes you stronger ;)
Digging up some more oldies from my archive here btw. Go to illustrations to see a couple more.

Artplant gets support from Norwegian Filmfund!

Hi again, just want to tell some good news. Well, for us at least. Norwegian Filmfund just granted us (Artplant) 800k NOK for developing a prototype of an MMO game we call Skjaersilden. No more info is public yet, so stay tuned :)

Anyway, as part of the presentation we did some artwork and whatnot. This is one concept I did in 2-3 hours. Thanks to Mikael for a rough thumbsketch which I based the painting on.
